Read the supporting source ↗ - NatchitochesHistorical people connection in a community published history
Connection & source
Historical people connection in a community published historyThe community-published history places the Natchitoches people around Black Lake and the present Natchitoches Parish, in northwest-central Louisiana. Its initial discussion also distinguishes historical Caddo-related peoples and confederacies rather than treating every Caddo-related name as the same political body. Inspection: Inspected the seven-page PDF's title and historical-geography discussion on printed pages 1–2; also read the French-contact narrative on pages 3–4. The mapped claim uses only pages 1–2. Limits: The file URL contains a different middle initial; the printed author credit is Fred D. Simon. Do not infer that the present Louisiana organization and Caddo Nation of Oklahoma are the same government. No population extrapolations, recognition determination, language classification, or territorial extent is adopted.
Historical communities in the present Natchitoches Parish area; undated document inspected 2026-10-21. Reviewed 2026-10-21.
Read the supporting source ↗ - OfoSpecific ancestral people within a present shared government
Connection & source
Specific ancestral people within a present shared governmentThe Tunica-Biloxi Tribe identifies itself as successor to historical Tunica, Biloxi, Ofo and Avoyel communities, and names Ofo among its present ancestral constituents. Its reservation is near Marksville in central Louisiana. This gives Ofo an explicitly scoped descendant-community connection to Louisiana through a shared government. Inspection: Read the complete short Our Culture article, especially the succession/constituent paragraphs and the present-reservation description. Limits: Ofo, Tunica, Biloxi, Avoyel and Choctaw identities are not treated as synonyms; a shared government is not proof that these historical peoples were identical. This is a descendant connection, not a claim that Louisiana encompasses the entire historical Ofo homeland. No demographic total, land-area figure, language-family classification, or disappearance claim is adopted.
