Connection & source
Historical homeland described by a continuing communityThe community’s history explicitly places Indigenous Massachusett villages in what is now the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, describing a coastal and inland range using Salem, Plymouth and Worcester. This directly supports a Massachusetts historical connection. Inspection: Actual opening geographic and community paragraphs, HTML lines 55–57, inspected. Limits: The Neponset/Ponkapoag community account is attributed to its publisher, not treated as the only Massachusett perspective. No state/federal recognition determination, epidemic percentage or exact historical boundary is adopted.
Before and during early European colonial arrival. Reviewed 2026-10-21.

Connection & source
Historical people connectionEastham's public-history page explicitly locates the historical Nauset people on Cape Cod in Massachusetts and identifies their principal village near present Eastham. This supports a historical Massachusetts route, rather than a connection inferred from Nauset place names alone. Inspection: Read all five substantive paragraphs. The opening geographic statement and village-location paragraph establish this finding aid. Limits: The page uses dated outsider terminology and old population/disappearance claims; none is adopted. The Nauset access point is retained with historical scope. This does not settle their political relationship to Wampanoag communities or identify a present government. The NPS whaling report was read selectively for context but is not the basis of this association; its broad Wampanoag framing does not resolve every Nauset naming question.
Colonial-era Nauset communities on Cape Cod; undated historical text hosted by the Town of Eastham. Reviewed 2026-10-21.

These are starting lists, not a complete census. Modern borders help you navigate; they are not Indigenous homeland boundaries. A connection may be historical or present-day and does not imply presence throughout a region. Directory names can overlap; the profiles explain their relationships.
