A source guide for a deeper dive. This entry provides a brief orientation and an organized reading path. A comprehensive deep dive has not yet been completed. Follow the annotated sources and distinguish primary community accounts from outside reference material.
Still unfinished

A small, purposefully selected actual-content starting path and specifically scoped credited image are now available. Fuller history, source comparison and community review remain open; quantity does not establish completion.

Assessment recorded October 27, 2026. This is separate from research completion and community review.

  • Add Wasauksing-authorized histories, language resources and everyday community accounts beyond this biographical starting point.
  • Inspect the guide’s selected bibliography and original letters before adopting detailed military, rank or legal claims.
  • Resolve source disagreements about Pegahmagabow’s birth year and award totals before using precise figures; no such total is asserted here.

The media record explicitly identifies Parry Island with Wasauksing First Nation. The federal Wasauksing bridge account independently describes its island-to-mainland access. Use as a dated landscape, not a surveyed reserve boundary, an image of every citizen or present infrastructure condition. Exact source record, photographer and media-specific licence read; no image-based historical source count. Parent imported the supplied complete JPEG unchanged; the recorded original/preview/earlier-derivative limits remain. CSS crops/overlays affect display only.

01

A community-supported route for teachers and students

The 2016 teacher’s guide was developed through the Wasauksing War Hero and Native Veteran’s Educational Awareness and Commemoration Project. Gerry Weaver and Brian McInnes use Pegahmagabow’s story to connect military experience with family, community and political life. The opening pages encourage respectful discussion and stress that no single veteran’s experience represents everyone. This guide is a starting resource; its many lesson plans and source materials need separate review.

02

Leadership after military service

Parks Canada’s account follows Francis Pegahmagabow from First World War service into leadership at Wasauksing and wider Indigenous political organizing. It describes his work as chief and his challenges to government restrictions and treaty grievances. This is a named person’s history, not the history of every Wasauksing family. The federal commemorative perspective is useful alongside the community-supported educational guide.

What needs further research

  • Develop a community-directed history and annotated reading collection.
  • Review community-specific imagery and reuse terms before substantive profile publication.
  • Review detailed relationships, naming changes and historical regional connections.

Cohort06: selected actual-content sources and specifically scoped credited imagery form a bounded starting guide. Reused publications/photos are not new global works. Comprehensive history and community review remain open.
